Description
Jeff Bratberg, PharmD, will give a didactic presentation on implementing physician-pharmacist collaborations for public health. Dr. Bratberg is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island and is a board-certified clinical pharmacist. Dr. Bratberg is well acquainted with the challenges community pharmacists and pharmacies face regarding opioid safety, overdose, harm reduction, and addiction pharmacotherapy.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand new laws and regulations expanding pharmacist scope of practice to prescribe HIV PEP, PrEP, and hormonal contraception to expand access and reduce disparities.
- Compare perspective authority, collaborative practice agreements, and standing orders, using opioid use disorder medications as an example.
- Identify ways to work with pharmacists as referral sources for patients who lack primary care providers to increase health equity.
Continuing Education:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. The Rhode Island Hospital is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This is an application-based activity.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CE CREDIT:
Pharmacists must pre-register at https://www.neaetc.org/events/view/25818. No partial credit is available; pharmacists must be present for the entire educational activity to claim credit. A program evaluation must be completed at www.uripharmacycpd.org within 60 days of the live program date (3/22/2024) in order to receive CE credit. CE credit will be transferred to the CPE Monitor upon successful completion of the program evaluation. Transfer of CE credit should be verified at mycpemonitor.net where CE statements are available to print. Please refer to the evaluation instructions that follow for completing program evaluations and reporting CE credit.
