The week of October 21-25, 2024, recognizes the importance of Oral Health for members of the LGBTQ+ Community.

On October 22nd, 2024, 12-1PM, the Essentials of HIV-Integrated Care Series will feature an oral health webinar presented by Dr. Alex Barrera, DDS, specifically geared for the LGBTQ+ Community that's designed to educate oral health providers, health providers, support staff, and others involved in the care of PWH.  Routine oral health care is medically necessary and has demonstrated an impact on oral disease management such as inflammation as well as other chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and more. This training is offering free CME for medical providers as well as dental CE from ADS.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn what it means to identify as LGBTQIA+ in 2024.
• Understand the about the economic, social, and emotional challenges faced by the queer community and how that plays a role in oral health care.
• Discuss current health trends in the community on topics such as HIV, HPV, mpox, and PrEP.
• Consider how the dental team can better treat, respect, and learn from the LGBTQ+ community.
