The CT Statewide Grand Rounds Series, is a high-level, HIV syndemic focused training series aimed at providing the most up-to-date information and education for medical health care team members currently involved in HIV care looking to increase their ability to prevent new HIV infections, identify people with HIV who are undiagnosed or out of care, and link patients not on antiretrovirals to care to achieve viral suppression.
This session, Oral Health Among the HIV Community, will be presented by Dr. Alex Barerra from Avenue 360 based in Houston, Texas.
The presentation's objectives include:
- Discuss HIV basics and the current state of HIV in the United States
- Examine dentistry’s relationship with HIV
- Review common oral lesions and manifestations associated with HIV
- Understand treatment options as well as pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis
