Speaker:
Lisa Cohen, PharmD, CDCES, CDOE, helps to develop community practice sites and community preceptors. She precepts Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students participating in community-based services including diabetes education programs. She has research sites at the VA Medical Center in Providence and at the Department of Corrections in Cranston where she provides diabetes and cardiovascular education and clinical/research support for ambulatory care conditions.
Learning Objectives:
- Analyze strategies for preventing and managing diabetes and obesity in communities affected by HIV.
- Differentiate common barriers to healthcare access, such as affordability, language, and limited resources, and their impact on diabetes and obesity outcomes.
- Apply evidence-based strategies for preventing and managing diabetes and obesity in patients with HIV through lifestyle modifications, medical interventions, and public health initiatives.
